Question: I have a BlackBerry Pearl that’s not so old, and it just started giving me a problem where the call logs is being deleted every so often and text messages sent to me arrive on the phone but are instantly deleted, leaving no record of them having arrived. Only for text messages but not Emails. Any Suggestions?
Pretty straight forward here Johnathan with your questions, your experiencing “Low Memory” issues. It appears that your completely out of space on both the Phone and SIM Card. Luckily these are problems that can be taken care of quite easily.
You see BlackBerry are like PC’s, mini PC’s. They need Memory in order to function properly and perform the most basic of tasks like example; making a call, or browsing the web. Now when the phone starts showing the Hour Glass, Running Extremely Slow, Deleting Email, Deleting Call Logs, Deleting SMS Text Messages, Constantly Restarting, its pretty much because its available Memory is all used up and the Phone is Reacting to the issue by finding ways to “Breath” againg and make Memory Resources Available by deleting those things.
What you need to do is extract and remove all the Media Files, Pictures, Ringtones, Music you loaded unto the Phone from the phone and either store them on your pc, and or purchase a MicroSD Memory Card to store those files on it.
If you decide to go with a MicroSD Memory Card Amazon.com is a Secured and Trusted Website to pick one up at.
Remember to move the Media Files onto the card as there taking up a very large amount of space on the phone. considering you got your pearl recently, i’d be safe to say you have and 8110, 8120 or 8130 model with the 2 megapixel camera which takes good quality photos which in term take up alot of space.
That should fix the deletion of Call Logs and or maybe the SMS Text messages.
To check how much space is available, while your phone is working well enough for you to try this (like after a battery pull), do (press menu key) > Options > Status. Read the value for File Free. Youll see what im talking about.
Here is a good article on freeing up space:
How Do I Free Up Memory for My BlackBerry Device?
As far as the SMS Text Messages (if it still keeps occuring) Check Out: SMS or MMS SIM Card Inbox Full Error Message
Sounds like somehow SMS Text messaging is getting stored to the SIM Card, youll need to delete some saved SMS Text Messages if not all and change the settings where the SMS Text messages get stored on the phones memory, but first do free up the phones memory.
Thanks Jonathan for sending your question in, hope we helped DUDE!
