KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) — Maxis Communications Bhd announced that pre-booking for the new BlackBerry Storm smartphone is starting from today till April 24, 2009, via the company’s website.
“We are certain that the innovative BlackBerry Storm, with its unique touch-screen features, will meet both the communications and multimedia needs of our customers,” said Maxis chief marketing officer Matthew Willsher.
According to him, the company will be investing nearly RM1.6 billion in its networks this year under its comprehensive upgrade and expansion programme to further enhance coverage and performance, including the high-speed 3G data network.
The smartphone, equipped with a 3.2-inch wide screen, features a “clickable” touchscreen that enables efficient application navigation and also offers customers more convenient access to download applications via the new BlackBerry Application Centre.
It will be available from Maxis at RM2,100, if purchased with a Value Plus 150 postpaid plan and a BlackBerry service package that comes with a 24-month contract.
The first 300 customers who pre-book and purchase their units will receive a BlackBerry accessory package each, comprising the BlackBerry charging pod and leather holster, and the Jabra Bluetooth headset.
Pre-book customers will also be able to collect the smartphone beginning next month at locations within the Klang Valley.
The smartphone will be available at Maxis centres and partners nationwide by middle of next month.
